Acne Treatments That Work: Acne Treatment During Pregnancy and a Cystic Acne Home Remedy

    Thursday, July 15th, 2010

    Acne Treatments That Work

You see all these ads on tv, in magazines and on the internet that says they’re the new greatest thing for acne treatment.  You may have tried some or all of them and still can’t find acne treatments that work, or it may have stopped working.  What you have to realize is that everyone’s skin is different, and depending on the type of acne you have, it may take more than one type of treatment or continued treatment to get the results you want.  But, as Dr. Crutchfield. Associate Professor of Dermatology at the University of Minnesota Medical School says, there is a solution for every acne sufferer.

The causes of acne breakouts are hormonal changes which cause too much production of oil (sebum) and cells in your skin follicles, which blocks the pore and swells.  This causes inflammation, and you’ll get whiteheads, blackheads, pimples, etc.  They’re now talking about acne treatments that work to target that inflammatory response.

There are many acne treatments to choose from that fit in two categories:

    • Pore cleansers which prevent the blockage and
    • Acne treatment products that reduce production of the oil or hormones

Pore cleansers are acne treatments that work, because they contain salicylic acid and/or benzoyl peroxide.  For some people, that’s all that’s needed, especially if it isn’t causing acne scars.  Find two to three products you like and rotate them every two or three months. They’re more effective this way, because acne will build a resistance to them.

The acne treatment products you see advertised on tv, in magazines and on the internet are acne treatments that work because they have the added benefit of a skin care regime, which you need.  Dr. Crutchfield did say that the Zeno acne clearing device, a heated electronic “zit zapper” and FDA approved, works for 60-70% of the acne sufferers.  But they indicated that it’s really only for mild acne breakouts, periodic breakouts, or to keep your acne under control.

If your acne continues to be a problem, you should see a Dermatologist.

    Acne Treatment During Pregnancy

Most of the anti acne products used by non-pregnant women should not be used as an acne treatment during pregnancy; or, you should consult with your physician.  Some of these products and ingredients are:

    • Accutane
    • Tetracycline
    • Retin-A
    • Salicylic acid and possibly even
    • Benzoyl Peroxide

You should always consult your OB-GYN before using any acne treatment during pregnancy, whether over-the-counter or prescription.

    Cystic Acne Home Remedy

You can find a cystic acne home remedy, as there are quite a few to choose from, and the products and ingredients you use are inexpensive and available in your home.  Some of the most common cystic acne home remedies are:

    • Baking Soda.  It helps prevent acne, and is known to be very helpful as a cystic acne cure.  Mix 1/2 teaspoon with water to make a thick paste.  Apply it to the affected area and leave it on for about 15 minutes.  Rinse with cool water.
    • Potatoes.  Potatoes contain alkaline, which helps break the oils down.  Slice a raw potato in half and rub the juice on the area.  You can leave it one for 1/2 hour and rinse with lukewarm water.
    • Eggs.  Egg whites are known to be very effective as a cystic acne home remedy.  You can add a few drops of honey, and it will also soothe the affected area.

Acne Treatment Pregnancy: Finding a Safe Acne Treatment During Pregnancy and the Best Acne Clear Free Skin Treatment

    Tuesday, November 10th, 2009

    Acne Treatment Pregnancy

Most of us know that when we become pregnant, our hormonal balance is thrown way off, and our hormones fluctuate continuously.  This means that you’re more susceptible with acne and pregnancy.  The causes of acne breakouts usually settle down after the first trimester, but acne breakouts during pregnancy is very common.  A lot of the acne treatment products on the market contain strong chemical ingredients that can be absorbed into your system, affecting your baby.  I’ll briefly review the relationship between acne treatment pregnancy options including finding a safe acne treatment during pregnancy and the best acne clear free skin treatment products for your health and the health of your baby.

Many acne treatment pregnancy products and acne scar removal products have chemical ingredients that are unsafe for your baby.  Even some natural ingredients like Vitamin A acne treatment and Salicylic Acid acne treatment have been linked to birth defects. There are several things to consider to find a safe acne treatment during pregnancy.

    Some things to avoid are:

    • Retin A products or “retinoids”
    • Accutane
    • Tazorac
    • Tetracycline
    • Benzoyl peroxide acne treatment
    • Salicylic acid acne treatment
    • Glycolic acid acne treatment

Although some may be safe in small quantities, some have also been linked to birth defects, so it’s better to be safe than sorry when there are specific acne treatment pregnancy products available that you know are safe.

    Safe Acne Treatment During Pregnancy

A safe acne treatment during pregnancy could include a safe homemade acne treatment and an acne clear free skin treatment routine you can do at home.   There are some safe acne treatment pregnancy products you can use, as well.  You just need to know what to look for.  Just because an acne clear free skin treatment product is all natural or organic doesn’t mean it’s safe.  For a safe acne treatment during pregnancy, some of the best things you can do daily are below:

    • Daily skin cleansing 2-3 times a day with a safe all natural cleanser, moisturizer, exfoliator and toner
    • Natural acne facial treatment weekly or monthly
    • Use all natural clay based products
    • Adjust your diet
      • Fruit acid is good for you. Fruit, berries, olives, canaloupe, dark green vegetables, salmon and extra virgin olive oil all have strong antioxidant properties. Prunes and whole grains, some milk but not a lot. Lactic acid from milk is safe and good for you.
    • Drink a lot of water
    • Exercise
    • Keep your stress level down

    Acne Clear Free Skin Treatment

The trick is finding the best acne clear free skin treatment product that’s safe and will work for you.   There are different types of products that can help, including:

    • Informational to help you clear your acne problem naturally and permanently from the inside out
    • Topical acne treatment products to treat the skin problem, but maybe not the underlying cause
    • Acne Treatment Pregnancy products specific to safe acne treatment while you’re pregnant

The best informational acne treatment product I would recommend for natural, permanent acne treatment is the Acne Free in 3 Days by Chris Gibson.  The best topical and supplemental acne treatment I would recommend is the Acnezine Treatment.  Although it’s all natural and deemed safe for pregnant women, I would still talk to your doctor regarding the oral supplements.  Best pregnant specific acne treatment products:  DermStore is your one stop shop for all your skin care and cosmetic needs.

The most important thing is to have Safe acne treatment during pregnancy.   I’ll be following up with some safe homemade acne treatments, facials and masks.  Please let me know if you have any questions, and Have a Great Day!!
