Getting Rid of Blackheads

Blackhead removal is one of the most difficult parts of getting and maintaining healthy skin, but there are some helpful tips in getting rid of blackheads and preventing them.  Blackheads are “open comedones” with oily skin, while whiteheads can be with dry or oily skin.  They’re caused by oil and dead skin cells that clog the pore.  The color is from the oxygen in the air causing the black color, or oxidization.

The best thing to do in getting rid of blackheads is by softening them before removal.  They can be hard to remove and squeezing them can damage the skin and cause scarring.  You need to make sure your skin is Clean.  There are different tools and home remedies for blackheads, and I’ll review some tools and home remedies, and how to get rid of blackheads.

How to Get Rid of Blackheads

Blackheads can be caused by hormonal changes increasing oil production, skin care and make up products.  Use natural skin care and make up products that aren’t heavy, strong, oily or greasy.  Use a gentle water soluble acne cleanser, NOT bar soap; it can clog and dry your skin.  Here are some other suggestions on how to get rid of blackheads:

• Cleanse your skin with a gentle water soluable cleanser
• Exfoliate daily to get rid of dead skin cells.  Many say 1-2% BHA or salicylic acid is a good exfoliator, or alpha hydroxy acids (AHAs), but they don’t penetrate the pore’s lining.
• Take a hot shower, use hot compresses or steam your skin to soften the blackheads.
• You can use a blackhead extraction tool, mask, pore strips or vacuum ‘gun’, or see your Dermatologist.  I wouldn’t suggest any of these, especially pore strips because they’re painful, can remove some skin, and you’re not suppose to use them on irritated or dry skin or anywhere except getting rid of blackheads on your nose.  A vacuum gun can do some of the same things.

Home Remedies for Blackheads

Some home remedies for blackheads include the above cleansing, exfoliating and steaming, as well as:

• Lemon for blackheads:  Rub 1/4 slice on the blackheads and acne. It also reduces and treats acne scarring, and the acid lighten scars and acts like an astringent to loosen and dissolve it.  You may break out a little more initially, but 9 out of 10 people have had much less acne, and haven’t broken out since they used lemon for blackheads and causes of acne breakouts.
• 1/4 cup hot water, 1t epsom salt, 4 drops iodine.  Mix well and cool. Apply with a cotton ball.  When dry, gently remove with a clean cloth
• Make a facial wash with fresh lime juice and glass of boiled milk
• Use a green tea facial scrub
• Potatoes are good home remedies for blackheads and acne removal
• Warm honey, rinse after 10-15 minutes
• Salt, honey and lemon make a good home facial scrub for blackheads.  Yogurt can also be used.  Gently scrub your face for a few minutes, rinse and pat dry
• Egg white is a good home remedy for blackheads.  Beat it and apply.  Rinse after a bit and scrub lightly while drying
• Before going to bed:  Mix 3T honey and 1t cinnamon powder and apply.  Rinse with warm water the next morning.  You can do this for 2 weeks.
• 1t lemon juice and 1t cinnamon powder

Any of these are good home remedies for blackheads.

Back Acne Treatment

The causes of acne breakouts are clogged pores in your skin created by too much sebum oil built up in the glands.  Although there are differences with back acne this works the same for all acne.  I’m going to briefly review what you can do as a back acne scar treatment to cure back acne.

• Drink a lot of water, as water removes the toxins caused by the bacteria from your body, reducing acne and acne breakouts, as well.

Acne Back Treatment

• Excessive sweating, oil production or dirt does not seem to affect back acne
• Stress doesn’show the same effect for back acne, but this may be because a lot of times we’ll pick at acne on our face or other places we can reach, but not our back

They do say that some back acne happens around puberty when the sebaceous glands start functioning.  When they produce too much sebum, the pores and hair follicles can get clogged, attracting bacteria and leading to acne.

Some other things that may cause or aggravate back acne are:

• Body wash, Shampoo and Conditioner.  Although these help clean your body and back, residue from these products can also cause back acne if they’re not completely rinsed off.  Rinse your back last thoroughly, as the skin on your back is thicker than other body parts

Vitamin A and Acne:  Does Using Vitamin A For Acne Really Help?

What is the relationship between Vitamin A and acne?  Does it really treat acne, and if so, what are the benefits, possible detriments and side effects?  Learn why Vitamin A is beneficial for treating acne, how it works, and the possible side effects.
